Murston Heart Poppy Project
To commemorate the World War 1 Centenary in 2018, Murston HeArt Project in association with Swale in Bloom invites you to make a poppy that will represent one of over 2000 fallen heroes from across the Swale area that died in World War One.
During September to November 2018 the Murston HeArt Project will be exhibiting all your creations in the grounds of Murston Old Church creating a sea of poppies as part of a special memorial event for the WW1 Centenary.
We’ve already started collecting recycled materials and creating poppies from them so please join in, no experience is necessary.
You can make your poppy from anything you like, but remember that they will be outside for approximately two months. Examples of materials include: wool, plastic bottles/plates, clay, knitted, felt, fabric, mosaic, wood, metal, tin cans etc. Poppies can to be from 5cm to 50cms.
Make just one or as many as you like.
If you are a community group we can offer free demonstrations and talks on what is required. We are also offering free workshops to local schools. Individual makers of poppies are very welcome.

You can drop your poppies off at Swale Borough Council – Sittingbourne, The Alexander Centre – Faversham or Sheppey Gateway – Sheerness.
